In 1996 Gary played his first festival dates appearing at the V96 Festival in Warrington and Chelmsford alongside acts such as Pulp, Paul Weller, Supergrass, The Charlatans and Lightning Seeds on the V stage. This was also the first of the now annual V Festivals. Gary played a 45 minute set which also included songs that wouldn't be released until "Exile" the following year.
