When Gary Numan took elements of avant-garde electronica and combined them with pop rhythms and haunting vocals it lead to some 80s smash hits that have stood the test of time surprisingly well. This live concert features many of his hits, including 'America', 'Cars', 'Are Friends Electric?', 'Call Out The Dogs', 'Creatures' and many more.
This DVD release is taken from the original VHS The Skin Mechanic, don’t expect a remastered copy this DVD has no extras, nothing. But if you are a fan looking to replace your VHS then this is for you. This DVD has songs from the late seventies up to the nineties. The recording is great and it does show Mr Numan at his best. The only complaint is that it's only 10 tracks long, if you're going to go to the trouble of recording a concert you might as well show the whole thing the sound is very good esp. the beefy bottom end. The multiple camera angles and close-ups on all of the musicians and the audience are superb. There are a couple of hilarious moments and even open laughter from Gary, who is very relaxed. this DVD has been release under the names of The Skin Mechanic on VHS, Gary Numan: In Concert DVD, and now Gary Numan - Broadcasting Live 30th anniversary special edition DVD,
