New Thing From London Town appeared on Gary's Numa label and had a hard dance feel to it. The sleeve and the promo video were shot in a disused warehouse showing Gary with blond hair and Bill clad in black. Numan promoted the single on radio and TV and earned good reviews. A remix of the song can be found on the Strange Charm LP. This single got to No 52 in the UK charts.....
New Thing From London Town
Lyrics
New Thing From London Town
(Single, 1986)
New thing from London Town
Atmosphere in music round
Colour slashed across the face
Plastic hand in hand with lace
Grey mist to still the night
Sliding through the coloured light
Heads glide along the street
Rendevous with marching feet
New thing from London Town
New thing from London Town
All directions pointing down
Follow leaders to the door
Future guardians of war
Clicking films in black and white
Dark masters of the night
Meet the heroes of their time
United under banner signs
New thing from London Town
New thing from London Town
Voices shout above the sound
Join hands and closing eyes
One by one they slowly rise
Time waits and standing still
Watches men that time can't kill
This night they turn the tide
Then return to where they hide
New thing from London Town
Time To Die
(B-side, 'New Thing From London Town' single, 1989)
And I have seen wonders
And I have seen miracles
I have seeen some things
All lost to me now
Like tears in the rain
And I have seen sadness
And I have seen time run down
I've even seen men cry
It's all lost to me now
Like tears in the rain
And my memories
I can't give them away
So it's easy
Like a long, long sleep
I'm so tired
And it's my time to die
Welcome home
No exhibition
No screaming war song
No conversation
No more opinions here
And I have seen new wars
And I have seen things that you wouldn't believe
And I have seen my days
It's all lost to me now
Like tears in the rain
