Tubeway Days Very Special Guest

Tubeway Days are delighted to announce that their Very Special Guest for the show in Norwich on Saturday 25th April 2026 will be the one and only Bill Sharpe of Shakatak, but known better to most Numan Fans fo his work with Gary Numan, billed as Sharpe & Numan. The duo scored a British top 20 hit with the single "Change Your Mind". That same year, Sharpe released his debut solo album, Famous People, which included the duet with Numan. Other vocalists featured on the album include then-frequent Numan backing singer Tessa Niles, who sang the title track. It was released as the second single from the album, but did not chart.
A follow-up Sharpe & Numan single, "New Thing from London Town", was featured on Numan's 1986 album Strange Charm. Two years later, Sharpe & Numan returned with the single "No More Lies", and in early 1989 the duo released a full album together, Automatic. A second single, "I'm on Automatic", was a modest UK Top 40 hit. "Change Your Mind" was also included on that album.

Launch date is here ... episode one and two available now - stories from Martin Mills, Gary Numan has gifted Beggars Banquet their very first number one. So why is neither he nor the label happy? We step inside the intense backlash that comes with fame, as a painfully young Gary Numan tries to make sense of sudden superstardom. Plus, Martin Mills scrambles to define Beggars Banquet as more than just one very big artist… which brings us first to Jon Rocca’s delightfully unpunk electro pioneers, Freeez and their massive NY club hit, I.O.U, and then to something altogether more sombre. Peter Murphy introduces us to Bauhaus, the band who announce the dawn of Beggars Banquet’s ‘decade of darkness’.
‘Intruder’ is Numan’s 18th solo studio album and follows 2017’s ‘Savage: Songs From A Broken World’, which became his highest charting set in almost forty years when it debuted at 2 on the Official Albums Chart. That commercial success was complemented with wide-reaching critical acclaim from Mojo, The Quietus, PopMatters and more.
Whereas ‘Savage’ depicted earth as a barren wasteland in which humanity and culture had been largely crushed by the effects of global warming, ‘Intruder’ presents a fresh but complementary narrative. It’s a philosophical examination of a potential future apocalypse: the planet can only survive by purging its inhabitants.
‘Intruder’ was recorded between sessions at Numan’s home studio in Los Angeles and at producer Ade Fenton’s studio in Bath. It represents their fifth studio album together after ‘Jagged’ (2006), ‘Dead Sun Rising’ (2011), ‘Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind)’ (2013) and ‘Savage (Songs From A Broken World)’ (2017).
To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the 1980 release of the Telekon album, only 1,980 individually numbered copies of this live recording were produced. Recorded live on October 25th, 2019 at The Roundhouse, London UK. Limited Edition, Numbered Red Cloud 7" Vinyl
