The Replican Review

 The Replican
Written by Joseph McCann, Review by Numanme

Most Gary Numan fans remember Replicas the Tubeway Army album released way back in 1979. This album was based on short stories that Gary had written with the intention of publishing a book. Over the years Gary has always talked about finishing the book but unfortunately it never happened.
Now many years later the next best thing to the album has been published The Replican by Joseph McCann, who is also a massive Gary Numan Fan. Joseph has pulled carters from the album such as Five, Machmen, Dream Police, Crazies, Mr Webb, and let’s not forget that place of nightmares The Park. As you read this book you are taken back to Replicas, its easy recognizing parts of the lyrics from the album. Its almost as if Gary had employed Joseph as a ghost writer.

This book is helped by the fact Joseph is a lifelong fan, he has managed to grasp the meaning of the storyline behind the album and transports you into this futuristic world like Blade Runner. It’s fun just to read, as a fan being in familiar territory taking me back to my teenage years when like most Numan fans I would sing along to the Replicas album. This book brings the album alive, sci fi with a touch of Horror, the book sucks you in to this electric outland. I would highly recommend it to all Numan fans.
Looking forward to the sequel………………keep up the good work Joseph.
